CITRINE

Citrine is a member of quartz family and its color ranges from a pale yellow to brown. Natural citrines are really rare, with the first citrine being appreciated as a golden- yellow gemstone in Greece between 300 and 150 BC (during the Hellenistic Age). Yellow quartz was then used to decorate jewelry and tools.

Brazil is the leader in citrine’s production, with the most of it coming from the state of Rio Grande do Sul. Citrines has been referred to as the “merchant’s stone” or “money stone” due to a superstition that it brings prosperity. For us “sunny” citrine is the stone that will make you smile and feel happy.

This gem got its name from the French word of lemon, citron, as many citrines have a juicy lemon color! It is the only mineral that consists exclusively of silicon and oxygen. You will find the best citrines in Brazil, French, Russia, Spain and Colorado of U.S.A.
